Getting to know iU: Andy Leverett

Let’s get to know a little more about Andy Leverett: Director of Post Production, rooftop explorer, avid strawberry consumer, and the man behind the most inspirational speech ever given at a company-wide meeting, ever.

His alter ego is a Gap model.

What do you do here? I am the Director of Post Production. I am responsible for making sure we get all our videos edited and in the hands of the Account Managers with a quickness. I still edit sometimes, too.

How long have you worked here? I’ve worked here for over 3 years as an editor. My first project was the Charlie Sifford PGA spot, back in the day when we were working at the warehouse office.

What did you do before this? I was a high school senior portrait photographer. I learned a lot about photography and customer service from that job.

What would you do if you won the lottery? I would keep working, because otherwise I would get bored. I would use the money to buy a house and live luxuriously, but then I would also invest it into cool movie projects. I would make the movie that I always wanted to make. I don’t know the plot yet.

Cats or dogs? Everyone at the office knows that I love the dogs at work. Banks is my favorite office dog (I’m sorry to break it to all the other dogs). Big, small, smelly, barky, I like them all. I like cats too, but dogs win.

What’s your favorite movie? Shaun of the Dead. Next question.

What do you want to be when you grow up? The first thing I can remember wanting to do was to be a garbage truck driver. Then when I got older I had some interest in the stock market and also being a commercial airline pilot. I’m glad I didn’t go with any of those options, even though I am sure they are all fun in their own right.

What’s your favorite aspect of your job? I really like the creativity I am able to bring to work on a daily basis. I get my work seen by a lot of people and it is a good feeling. And I love getting to work with all the doggos at the office.

Teamwork makes the dream work.

What career (other than this one) would you like to try? I have had some aspirations to be a reporter. My wife Henna is working in the news world, so I get a good dose of that life vicariously through her, and it is cool. I am happy with my career choice, though. There is a lot more writing and fact-checking involved with reporting, and that seems like it could be a pain sometimes.

If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be? I would be a duck, or a goose, or a swan. I get along really well with these kinds of birds for some reason. I have been attacked by them –more than once — but it doesn’t bother me.

Yes, they really are that stinkin’ cute. Photo by Severine Photography.

What was the last concert you went to? The last concert I went to was on NYE this year at City Winery in Atlanta. It was a cover band, and I don’t remember their name, but they were great. I have never had so much fun shouting to “Sweet Caroline” in my life.

What are you working on in your free time? My wife and I run @ATLRooftops on Instagram. Follow us! We go to all of the best rooftop restaurants in town and document the experience. It is a great way to see the city.
